Back in 2003, Nike SB used eBay to auction off a customized pair of Dunk Lows that were painted to match the site’s emblem. Proceeds went to Tim Braunch Foundation, a skater who died at an early age, as well as the Portland area’s new skate parks would be built with part of the sale’s revenue, which totaled $26,000 at the listing’s final Bid. Although just one pair of the shoes above were sold, the other pairs were cut up to see to it that there was only One pair available to the winner of the auction. It has long been rumored there are a couple of pairs still around, One of which was sawed into four distinct pieces. The other was given as a retirement gift to Sandy Bodecker.
Nike SB is physically putting the pieces of the Dunk Low back together in tribute to the life of the late Sandy Bodecker, who was responsible for creating Nike SB and making it what it is today. Nike has chosen to fill in the gaps with a see through TPU material, rather than fusing said parts together flawlessly.

The remainder of the design adheres to the original color scheme, using eBay’s distinguishing red, blue, yellow, and green tones. The left foot also has a print of Bodecker and his child on the insole, while the right has a print of the original, disassembled eBay Dunk.
UPDATE 12.7.22: Today December 7th, eBay has started an auction and features 10 special box pairs. The box includes the new eBay x Nike SB Dumk Low “Sandy Bodecker” that’s set to release later this month. The other is a tribute pair with the right sneaker cut into 4 pieces and the left is a regular eBay dunk like the original. Also in the box is a hand saw with eBay colors on the blade. This is to commemorate the original 2003 auction. All proceeds will go to Bodecker Creative Foundation.

The auction has started and will be live for 7 days. Skate shops are set to release the new eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low “Sandy Bodecker” on December 15th and a SNKRS App drop will be on December 17th.
